Summary:
All three episodes of the docudrama narrated by Juliet Stevenson which explores the life of novelist Jane Austen. At the age of 17, Austen began writing her own stories. She rejected a marriage proposal that brought with it the promise of financial stability and after the death of her father, she faced financial hardships and initially struggled to continue to write. Although she completed multiple novels before the age of 22, none were published until she was 35. They brought her little fame or success during her lifetime and she died aged 41. Dramatic reconstructions feature alongside interviews with academics, novelists and actors.
