Summary:
Llanishen and Lisvane reservoirs were built in the second half of the nineteenth century to provide clean drinking water for the city of Cardiff. However, by the 1970s, they had become mainly used by local people for recreational activities such as sailing, fishing, bird-watching and the quiet enjoyment of a tranquil oasis within the city boundary. When in 2001, plans were announced to drain Llanishen reservoir and replace it with houses, the neighbouring communities of Cyncoed, Llanishen and Lisvane rallied around to stop this development and formed the Reservoir Action Group. This book describes the history of the reservoirs and the efforts of local peopleto save them for future generations to enjoy.
