Summary:
Oliver Parker directs this British drama starring Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson. With the upcoming 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings in France, 90-year-old veteran Bernard Jordan (Caine) longs to travel to France to unite with fellow veterans and remember his fallen comrades. Unfortunately, Bernard lives in a care home with his wife, Rene (Jackson), and the staff forbid him from making the journey. Defiant, he plots an escape and makes a successful trip to France where his determination and daring spirit captivate the headlines. As Bernard remembers the tragic events that unfolded on Normandy beach, he also reflects on a life well lived and his 60-year marriage to his wife that helped to heal the emotional wounds inflicted by the war.
