Summary:
Bruce McIntosh was born in Yorkshire in 1926, but his roots are very much Scottish. From humble beginnings that could have seen him play cricket for England and football for Scotland, he found himself called up at the age of 18 to join the army. It was 1944 and the world was at war. When he later joined the British Indian Army, he never dreamed that nearly 75 years later he would be recognised as the last surviving British soldier of the 3rd Battalion of the Mahar Regiment. In his own words, Bruce writes about his life and takes us on a voyage through pivotal moments of the last 94 years. His love for his family, his respect for his comrades, his sense of adventure, charitable work, and faith are all told with frank honesty and a wry wit.
