At the celebration of the Burns anniversary by the Peterhead Junior Burns Club on 25th January 1889, it was unanimously resolved that a permanent record of the proceedings should be preserved in booklet form, in order that copies might be presented to the ladies and gentlemen who had assisted at the first Burns concert under the auspices of the Club, and whose services had contributed to make it such a signal success.
