Summary:
Jack Lowden and Peter Capaldi star as English war poet Siegfried Sassoon in this biographical drama directed by Terence Davies. The film follows Sassoon as he returns home after fighting in the First World War, decorated for his bravery while serving on the Western Front but declining to return to battle. While interned in a military psychiatric hospital, Sassoon struggles to come to terms with his homosexuality and meets fellow writer Wilfred Owen (Matthew Tennyson) before marrying Hester Gatty (Kate Phillips/Gemma Jones) and experiencing a crisis of faith later in his life.
