Summary:
Carol Morley writes and directs this semi-biographical drama based on the life of English artist Audrey Amiss. Audrey (Monica Dolan) is receiving a routine visit from her mental health nurse Sandra (Kelly Macdonald), whom she manages to persuade to take her to an art gallery to submit work to an open exhibition. Sandra agrees, unaware that the trip will take them over 200 miles away to Sunderland. During the journey, Audrey explains to Sandra that she was never given the recognition she deserved as an artist and felt rejected by the industry due to her mental illness. Meanwhile, Sandra is given a new sense of perspective as she comes to understand the joy in creativity.
