Summary:
Transcribed account of a lecture given by ex-Dean of Guild Alexander Walker to the Aberdeen Working Men's Natural History Society at Nelson Street U. P. Church Hall. The lecture concerns historical tools for creating fire and light. "Peer men", or "poor men", was an Aberdeen name for a type of candle holder. The meeting was chaired by Professor Trail, honorary president of the society, and the lecture was illustrated by historical items from the collection of John B. Rae (1848-1891).
