In Thirties Berlin, Max (Clive Owen) and Rudy (Brian Webber) are lovers. But the Nazis have decided that homosexuals should be persecuted as well as Jews and, when a group of soldiers burst in on Greta's Club (run by Mick Jagger), Rudy and Max are lucky to escape. They are eventually caught and are due to be tramsported to Dachau concentration camp when Rudy betrays Max in return for a yellow star (he thinks that being Jewish is preferable to being seen as gay). Rudy is tortured and then thrown off the train and on arrival, Max attempts to befriend fellow prisoner Horst (Lothaire Bluteau); which leads to him coming to terms with his identity.
