Dark crime thriller based on the 1974 novel by ex-gangster Donald Goines. David Arquette stars as Paul Pawlowski, a reporter who spends his days piecing together the life and crimes of the late major drug dealer and crime kingpin 'King David' (played by rapper/actor DMX). Pawlowski, who had only known King David for a matter of minutes before witnessing his violent murder, discovers the criminal's audio-journals and becomes immersed in his dark and violent story, which unfolds in flashback as Pawlowski listens to the tapes.
