Abstract: This programme begins with an overview of a world at war and places the surrender of Nazi Germany into the context of the many great struggles simultaneously spanning the Atlantic and Pacific. After the surrender of Germany itself, we see the hunt for saboteurs and how the military assumed civilian control of the towns, but we also witness the anger of soldiers as emaciated prisoners of war are liberated from German stalags and the horrors of concentration camps are unveiled.
