Guy Ritchie writes and directs this adaptation of the 1974 film by Lina Wertmuller, starring Madonna. Spoilt wife of a successful businessman, Amber Leighton (Madonna), finds little that pleases her in her everyday life and usually takes it out on the hired help. Her husband decides to surprise her with a cruise around Italy and Greece, accompanied by four friends. But Amber is not pleased with the boat and antagonises the first mate Giuseppe (Adriano Giannini) who begins to despise her. One morning, after the rest of her friends have gone on a diving trip, Amber changes her mind and gets Giuseppe to take her to some underwater caves. But after escaping a storm they get stranded on a desert island and Amber finds the tables are turned; she has to rely on the first mate to survive, becomes his servant and eventually his lover.
