Curtis Bernhardt directs this 1950s American film noir starring Humphrey Bogart as a gunrunner operating in 1920s war-torn Syria and supplying weapons to the rebel forces. Harry Smith (Bogart) must work under increasing pressure as the French military strengthen their grip on civilian sympathisers and their intelligence highlights Smith as a key instigator.
