Videos and DVDs
Directed by acclaimed Bengali filmmaker Ritwik Ghatak, this tale of hardship in 1950s Calcutta stars Supriya Choudhury as Nita, the oldest daughter of a family from East Pakistan who are forced to become refugees after Partition. Living in reduced circumstances, Nita struggles to provide for the family, while they remain insensitive to all the sacrifices she is making to secure their well-being. Overworked and under-appreciated, the one thing that keeps the young woman going is her love for the absent young scientist, who is soon to return home.
