Sidney Lumet directs this 1980s drama starring River Phoenix as the musically talented son of two former student radicals who are wanted by the FBI. As his parents, Arthur and Annie (Judd Hirsch and Christine Lahti), are forced to go on the run for their part in an anti-war protest bombing, Danny Pope (Phoenix) has grown up living out of suitcases and assuming new identities as he moves from town to town. However, when he wins a place at a prestigious performing arts school Danny refuses to move again and his parents are forced to confront their troubled past.
