Director Jeanie Finlay's documentary tells the story of two Scottish friends who managed to fool the music industry by re-inventing themselves as a Californian hip hop duo. After being dismissed by record company talent scouts as sounding like 'rapping Proclaimers', best friends Gavin Bain and Billy Boyd seek revenge by emerging as fully formed west coast rappers 'Silibil 'n' Brains', complete with American accents, reversed baseball caps and attitude. The film charts the duo's rapid rise and fall, as, after successfully duping label bosses and management, the stress of living their lie 24/7 starts to take its toll on their personal lives.
