Whitney Houston makes her final screen appearance in this musical drama set against the backdrop of the soul music industry of 1960s Detroit. A trio of talented sisters form a girl group and soon become Motown sensations, but the weight of fame starts to take its toll as the close-knit family begins to unravel in the glare of the spotlight. American Idol winner Jordin Sparks stars as Sparkle Williams, the most musically talented of the sisters, while Houston plays the girls' mother, Emma.
