Born near Bern, Switzerland, Paul Klee created some of the most original and colourful paintings of the twentieth century. Together with the painters Vassily Kandinsky and Franz Marc, he founded the Blaue Reiter movement, which championed Expressionism,and beginning in 1920, he taught at the famous Bauhaus school of art in Weimar, Germany.
