The following pages have been carefully revised in order to avoid not merely any untrue statement, but even any exaggeration. The pamphlet is printed and circulated under the conviction that a large proportion of the citizens have erroneous impressions in regard to the Dee, and more especially in regard to the Avon. The main part is put in the form of "conversations," with the view of making it both easy to follow and pleasant to read, in the hope that every citizen will thus be induced to peruse it, and thus become acquainted with the actual facts. It consists largely of a series of letters which appeared in the Aberdeen Free Press, in which the subject was most carefully considered, and set forth in simple form.
