Piper George Findlater, V. C of the Gordon Highlanders, was an ordinary man who found himself unexpectedly famous after beig wounded in battle on the North-west frontier of India in 1897. He was failed as the "Hero of Dargai" for continuing to play his bagpipes after being shot in both ankles. This is his story, told using many contemporary newspaper reports and the personal reminscences of Piper Findlater himself.
