Lasse Hallström writes and directs this biographical drama centred on the life of Swedish painter Hilma af Klint (Tora Hallström/Lena Olin). Now recognised as one of the first abstract artists, the film follows Hilma as she studies her craft at university, discovers an interest in the spiritual world and pioneers a new style of painting while working with a group of like-minded women known as The Five.
