A volume containing collected criminal letters and indictments by His Majesty's Advocate against residents of Aberdeen dating from 1816 to 1825. Each letter or indictment contains a description of the alleged offence, a list of witnesses and sometimes a list of assize, giving details of prospective jurors. The plea of the accused and outcome of trial has been noted on some of the letters with hand-written additions. The volume also contains hand-written copies of various legal letters and instructions relating to Aberdeen between 1822 and 1854. There is a hand-written alphabetical index at the beginning of the volume of the crimes from the indictments and of topics discussed in the copied letters.
