2 menu cards for dinners at the London North Eastern Railway (L.N.E.R.) owned Palace Hotel on Aberdeen's Union Street. Both cards date from around 1941. The menus were owned and kept by Tommy and Beryl Lyall. The rear of the cards feature signatures and messages from Polish officers who were stationed in Aberdeen during WW2. Beryl Lyall is credited in the messages as their cherished teacher of English. The menus, which detail "A La Carte", "Dinner Dishes Ready" and "Table d'Hote" options, refer to then active rationing regulations: the Food (Restrictions on Meals in Establishments) Order, 1941.
