An Indian love affair [text (large print)] : a septuagenarian odyssey from Taj to Taj
Gandolfi, Simon2022
Large Print
In the early 1960s, travel-writer Simon Gandolfi drove a VW from England to Goa, where he rented a bungalow on the beach. There he met and fell in love with Vanessa, with whom he explored much of the subcontinent. The 2008 terrorist attack in Mumbai prompted Gandolfi to re-explore the country on a small motorcycle. During the next six months he covered 12,000 kilometres, rediscovered the rented bungalow, which had become a beach bar - and learned of Vanessa's death soon after their parting. Memories of his travels with her became his companions as he continued his ride and are the connecting link in this chronicle of two journeys in which Gandolfi explores both the changes in India and in himself.
