United States Air Force bombardier John Yossarian (Abbott) is desperate to get out of his duties and so asks base Doctor Daneeka (Grant Heslov) to sign him off due to insanity. Trapped by rule Catch-22 however, stating that once a soldier requests leave from combat duty due to insanity he can no longer be deemed insane and is forced to fly even more missions, John must come to terms with his role and fulfil his missions to the best of his ability.
