This volume looks at the biggest fishing booms to hit Torry. It was based on only one fish, only seasonally available, but in huge quantities, and the boom lasted for over a century. It saw government legislation, port development, new catching techniques, new vessel design, developments in fish curing, canning, preservation, scientific research, and a seasonal influx of workers from England and beyond.
