Toby Stephens and Keeley Hawes star in this six-part BBC drama written by Stephen Poliakoff. In 1958, Russian Jew Samuel Petrukhin (Stephens) is struggling to save his hearing aid business when MI5 agents, interested in his latest invention, enlist his services to help them in their efforts to win the Cold War. When he becomes acquainted with MP Richard Shaw (Linus Roache) and his wife Kathleen (Hawes), MI5 approaches Samuel with a new mission to spy on the couple. Unsure of who to trust, can Samuel uncover the truth about the Shaws and his employers?
