Stratford Johns and John Hannah star in this three-part British drama based on the novel by Frederic Lindsay. When young student Robert (Hannah) witnesses the brutal murder of a boy, he is terrified to later meet the man he saw committing the crime at a party hosted by his professor, introduced to him as an old friend by the name of Brond (Johns). When fellow student Margaret (Louise Beattie) asks Robert to look after a parcel belonging to Brond, he finds himself being taken to the man himself and made to undertake a series of horrifying tasks.
