Bad weather for climbing Munros drove the author eastwards resulting in his chance encounter one day in 2001 with the remains of a narrow gauge railway built for the benefit of parties of game hunters up a Perthshire glen by a Dundee jute wallah in the 1920s. The book tells the story of that day and of the railway itself which operated until 1978 when tiresome government regulations forced its closure and the track was lifted.
