Mankind's great divides

Mitchell, George R.2016
Books, Manuscripts
Although the mid-90s brought about the deconstruction of communist frontiers, they have remained erect in the imagination. Mitchell investigates borders, and their impact on the landscape, in conjunction with the mindset of the population. With frank and in-depth interviews with refugees, security personnel, people who have had family members killed, people who currently live in fear, and people who have killed. The notion of 'other' is thus applied in an interrogation of the ways in which, physical borders manifest in national identity.
