2008 TV mini-series portraying the lives of John Adams (Paul Giamatti), the first Vice President and second President of the United States and his wife Abigail (Laura Kinney). Set during and after the American Revolution, the programme concentrates more on the personal, human stories of the major players in the revolt against Britain rather than on the action of the war itself. A strong supporting cast plays such immortal names as George Washington (David Morse), Thomas Jefferson (Stephen Dillane) and Benjamin Franklin (Tom Wilkinson).
