"Anderson & Low's new project "Manga Dreams" evokes several different programmes : first the circulation, tranlsation and transformation of images and ideas (often via street culture and cyber space) in the global visual economy ; many of these images and references find their origins in Asian manga (originally Japanese but now through all of East Asia, literally meaning cartoon and anime, plus other characters found in popular culture produced in Asia (particularly films). Manga Dreams is a most recent and critical addition to the genre and history of tableau photography, where sitters are dressed and staged to unfold a specific narrative of an artistic director.
