Tom and Anne Reid : a life in song

Books, Manuscripts
"This collection of poems, songs, tunes and stories has been put together in response to numerous requests and as a tribute to and in memory of Tom and Anne Reid, by their friends and family. Tom (1929-2003) moved to Nether Woodside (Cullerlie Farm Park) with his parents in 1935, and worked the farm for all of his life. He married Anne (1939-2006) in 1975 and together they kept the traditions of the North-East farming community alive. The old original steading was turned into a farm museum with one of the largest privately owned collections of farming and domestic artefacts in Scotland, and Anne ran the popular tea room. Most of all they loved to sing the traditional ballads and songs of their native area and often held ceilidhs for their visitors and friends. They were always in demand at festivals and ceilidhs both at home and abroad and, in 1977 Tom was crowned the "Bothy Ballad King" at the Haughs of Turriff before a crowd of 10,000, a title he retained until his death".
