Steven Spielberg directs this thriller based on the novel by Peter Benchley. When a large man-eating shark begins terrorising the residents of Amity Island, police chief Martin Brody (Roy Scheider) finds himself caught between a panicking community and a town council eager to play down the reported deaths. However, soon the mounting body count cannot be ignored and so Brody joins forces with marine biologist Matt Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) and veteran shark hunter Quint (Robert Shaw) to hunt the shark down. The cast also includes Lorraine Gary, Murray Hamilton and Carl Gottlieb.
